Helen Janota

Freelance careers writer specialising in labour market information

Helen is a chartered member of CILIP (Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) with over 16 years’ experience in the careers sector.

Starting out producing materials for 13-19 year olds, she now writes for a wider audience including adults, careers practitioners, teachers and parents. As an LMI specialist, she spends a large proportion of her time researching, writing and developing materials for use in schools across the UK. She was the creator and author of the What Work series of guides to the local labour market which, over the last 10 years, have been produced for over 18 areas across the UK including under the National Careers Service brand. Her passion is for producing easily accessible and informative copy that encompasses quality and currency.

As well as research and writing, Helen delivers training, workshops and presentations on the current job market and future trends to teachers and careers practitioners looking to improve their knowledge. She is currently co-presenter for the CDI’s ‘Insight into LMI’ workshop.

Wearing her information professional hat, Helen also offers careers library consultancy to schools and colleges including virtual learning environments and is a trained assessor for the Prospects Quality in Careers Award.
